Kush Building | Wynwood
Mixed-Use Redevelopment with Affordable Housing
Services: General Contracting | Mixed-Use Redevelopment
Description: The Kush Building is a mixed-use redevelopment project in Wynwood Miami, transforming a deteriorated 1940s structure into a 10,000-square-foot building with ground-floor retail and affordable housing units above. MASS served as Prime General Contractor, overseeing full demolition and reconstruction of the interior while preserving the existing exterior walls. The project required coordination across public and private stakeholders, including the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the City of Miami, and the ownership group. The development included approximately 10 affordable housing units, supported by nearly $5 million in public funding through grants and forgivable loans. MASS also played a critical role in facilitating project financing requirements, helping move the project forward when bonding challenges arose. This project demonstrates MASS’s expertise in public-private partnership construction projects, affordable housing development in Miami, Wynwood mixed-use redevelopment and adaptive reuse. It stands as a model for community-focused construction that balances economic development with neighborhood revitalization.
